General information:

The Sardine belongs to the family of the Clupaeiden like the herring and with it to the swarm fish. In big swarms, the sardines pass through the oceans - a natural protection for the type-conservation. The different sardine types populate practically all oceans. The sardine norishes itself from plakton, fish eggs and fish larvae. During the day , the sardine lasts in water depths from up to 60 meters on, at night it is with a depth of 15-30 meters to find. Sardines are temperature-sensitively and feel the best with 10-20 degrees Celsius. In the age of 3 years with a length of appr. 20 cms it becomes sexually mature. After 10-12 years it reaches its maximum size of 26 cms. The sardine is a slim, long stretched fish, the back is until bluish greenish, the stomach side is silvery. the gill-covers behind the prominently lower jaw are furrowed like radiations, the fins are small. The stomach fins lie under the backend of the backfin. Along the body-middle , the sardine carries big silvery scales. The sardines are still caught at night frequently. The fishers illuminate their boats at night and hire the sardines at the water-surface. If the swarm is sufficiently dense the networks are pulled above it and then heaved into the boat. The sardines are a nutritional powerhouse. Few other products offer the protein, minerals, vitamins and cholesterol reducing Omega 3 fatty acids that sardines do.
So provide 1 can of 105 grs sardines: 50% protein of the Daily Recommended Allowance, 10% of iron, 40% of calcium, 20% of Vitamin D.
Sardines are suitable to lower the risk for nerves, muscles and heart illness, to unburden with skeletal pains, to lower suspectibility to colds and infections.
